It is a POP for sight words game. I figured it would be super simple to make this game, and it is :)
At the Dollar Tree I found Plastic Popcorn boxes 2 for $1. To make the game, I simply googled Popcorn images and printed them onto cardstock. For durability I laminated them. On few popcorn kernels I wrote the word POP. I plan to label my popcorn pieces with the alphabet or numbers. Learning resources labeled each popcorn piece with a sight word.
The game is set up for 2-4 players. Each player takes a turn selecting a piece of popcorn out of the bucket. The player then has to correctly identify the letter, number, word, etc on their popcorn piece. If they can correctly identify the letter, number or word on their popcorn piece they get to keep it. If they do not correctly identify the letter, number or word they have to put their popcorn piece back in the bucket. If a student selects a POP kernel they must place ALL the kernels they have accumulated back into the bucket. The game ends when all kernels are out of the bucket. The person with the most kernels wins!
